To find the Tarot card of the month, add the month (January [1]) plus the year (1989). So 1+1989=1990. Next add that sum together until you have an answer between 1 and 22. So, 1+9+9+0=19. Since 19 falls within the numbers 1-22 it is not necessary to reduce it any further.
Unlike regular numerology, we do not need to reduce any two-digit number, like 19, that is less than 22 down to a single digit sum. This is because there are 22 cards in the Major Arcana and we will be using the Major Arcana’s Tarot cards to tell us about each month.
Also note: The Fool is unnumbered, or zero (0). It is not possible to add any set of numbers together and get an answer of zero (0) so therefore, it is not possible to have a The Fool month, day, or year.

Start the month off by following the directions, as The Hierophant would want, and once mastery is achieved, then you can deviate as much or as little from the proscribed method as you are comfortable with doing. Innovate with your end goal in mind. Success is great, but going too far off the course just to see what happens is not recommended.
