Death – XIII

Death
Death is the most misunderstood card in the Tarot. Charles Frohman asks “Why fear death? It is the most beautiful adventure in life.” He does make a good point where this card is concerned; Death is not a thing to be feared. Death, with regard to the Tarot, signifies a change is at hand. The old must make way for the new to arrive. A fresh start and a new life are certain with this card. Scorpios are associated with Death because they are mysterious and Scorpios recognize the value of rebirth and transformation in order to reach the fullest possible potential.
Upright: Death symbolizes a complete change in our lifestyle. Renewal and transition are represented by this card. All things must change. The seasons change and so must we. Nothing lasts forever and the old must make way for the new. Death symbolizes going out to meet the major transformations we all must face rather than hiding from these changes. The old patterns and habits no longer fit; allow the new ones to replace them. The more things change the more they stay the same; however, it might just take a rather large change to get there. Death is about having the courage to face what is coming!
Reversed: Death reversed means stagnation, lack of change. Projects or ideas have problems getting off the ground. Stalemates, complications and political upheaval are represented. Strife and crisis may be signified by Death when it appears reversed. We are immobile and meeting blockages at every turn as we strive to move forward. The battling it seems will be constant and continuous. There is no energy left to fight the good fight. We are tired of the endless struggle we are in. Are we really ready to take this endless struggle on? It might be best to rest and relax as we continue on the present path. Only once we have rested will we be able to formulate a plan of attack. This plan will allow us to regain forward momentum. Death can indicate that there are delays, but the change will come. Death reversed asks that consideration be given to the current situation.
