The Emperor

The Emperor represents solid strength and leadership.  This card is imposing and mighty indeed!  Fathers are associated with The Emperor.  Solidarity and conformity are cornerstones of this card.  Everything is shipshape and “squared” away here!  Taking charge and going in with ideas aplenty are not problems for The Emperor.  “With great leadership comes great responsibility” can be used to describe The Emperor.

Upright:  A strong leader or the need to develop the ability to lead is indicated.  Sound logic and good reasoning skills are necessary.  Making connections, networking and dealing with authority are also aspects of The Emperor.  A firm knowledge base is essential to the task at hand.  The ability to lead with assurance is required.  The Emperor is a thinker; someone who excels at solving problems through careful analysis.  The methods he uses can be a mixture of what is routine and whatever is on hand.  We work with what we have and find solutions for every circumstance.  Get ready for confrontations because with The Emperor at the helm we may be led to them for our own good growth and development.  This card might predict having to deal with those in authority.  When he appears, The Emperor reminds both women and men of the need to master leading, governing and critical analysis.

Reversed:  Immaturity of those in power is indicated when The Emperor is reversed.  One is lacking the fortitude to stand up to those with the power.  The powerless are allowing the powerful to walk over them.  Loss of control is represented.  There is a lack of good leadership present.  Look carefully at the work environment before continuing onward.  Weak character or timidity in the face of problems is indicated.  A lack of good leadership and the feeling of being put in a very uncomfortable situation may be present. The Emperor reversed is cautioning us to look carefully at things before continuing at full steam into the murky waters.  Careful navigation and a keen eye are very much advised by The Emperor in order to regain our personal authority and solid standing.
