The Hermit – IX

The Hermit
The Hermit deals with analysis. This card reminds us all to take a step back and think it over. Serenity and contentment are also symbolic of The Hermit. Virgos are represented by this card because they are the introspective analysts of the zodiac. We need not explain much, if anything, to a Virgo because they already understand our viewpoint. The Hermit can represent those who are seeking answers and those who are open-minded.
Upright: The Hermit is wise indeed. This card indicates that counsel is given or received freely. Reflection upon the path thus far is needed. Chances are we have a hermit of our own; someone that we turn to for guidance. This card tells us to listen to the advice offered. Should the advice resonate within us then proceed onward. The knowledge being sought is already present in each of us. The Hermit can represent the need to pause and consider each possible action through to its’ completion. The action which is the best is the one to be taken. Careful consideration is better than hasty measures.
Reversed: The truth has fallen away. Any advice The Hermit imparts is unheeded when the card is reversed. This card indicates that there is a lack of new information being let through. Without this new insight, we rely on previous knowledge and this can cause us to repeat mistakes made in the past. The Hermit reversed symbolizes wishful thinking and daydreaming to the extent that we can be unaware of our surroundings. Mister Miyagi always manages to lead his students in the proper direction using his “Wax on, Wax off” philosophy technique no matter how far off the point his students went. Listen to the advice given those with the expertise and experience and, like Mister Miyagi teaches, the path will be made clear.
