The Moon

The Moon

The Moon is a bright beacon in the night sky, and because of this, is a symbol of the Tarot.  This card represents emotional and psychic development.  The Moon asks us to become attuned to our imaginative and emotional selves.  By doing this, we achieve an understanding with the universe.  Just as the sun’s light reflects The Moon in nature, the same is true for the corresponding cards in the Tarot.  The Moon reminds us that some things are an illusion and that not everything is real.

Upright:  The Moon can indicate psychic development and will appear to affirm our intuition in matters that are large and important, such as a move.  This card can be a portent of unforeseen events or a new twist in events that are already unfolding.  An increase in psychic development is represented by this card.  The Moon represents our emotions and shows up to indicate that we may be making too much of something.  This card intensifies our emotions and makes even the smallest thing significant.  Take care not to get carried away and make a mountain out of a molehill.  The key is to learn discernment so as not to fall under The Moon’s sway.  Nocturnal activities are at the heart of this card, and as such, this reminds us to watch and record the dreams we have when asleep.  Doing this will often yield much needed help and information.

Reversed:  The Moon’s influence has lessened and things are calmer.  We are now able to think things through rationally and without becoming too emotionally attached.  This card indicates a focusing of the imagination.  We can utilize the creative process to our benefit.  With The Moon, ideas abound and are measured. Those which are well thought-out will be set into motion to be successful!  Things will be considered and given due weight when The Moon is reversed.  Nothing will be jarring or disruptive now that The Moon’s influence has lessened.  Now, The Moon shines more brightly and sheds light upon everything.  When this occurs, true feelings will become known.  Our psychic intuition can be counted upon to be more reliable and trustworthy now as well.  No confusion will exist or be experienced by anyone, says The Moon.  Any communication will take place calmly and without theatrics.  Reversed, The Moon levels the playing field and wipes everything cleanly away to allow for fresh ideas to be heard and fair treatment to be given to everyone.
