Swords are razor sharp.  For that reason the suit of Swords in the Tarot represents our mental state.  Nothing is faster than a witty retort and nothing hurts more than cunning remark.  This suit is sometimes perceived as the most unfortunate suit because it is visually dynamic in what it symbolizes.  These Swords cut many things.  The most important thing to remember about the Swords is that they are indicative of our minds and how we act and react to what we think is occurring.  This may not be what is actually happening though.  “I think therefore I am,” said Rene Descartes and that is especially true of the Swords.  We make judgments all the time; right or wrong they are our thoughts and we can let them take control, thereby hurting us, or we can control them, thereby cutting away what is not necessary and getting to the truth of the matter.  The zodiac signs that represent Swords are Aquarius, Gemini and Libra.  These signs all value having information readily available to them and brainstorming new ways to figure things out.
