Eight of Swords

Eight of Swords

Eight of Swords

The Eight of Swords deals with fear.  This card shows that we can become immobile due to the uncertainty of what is to come.  Confused and misguided, we do not know which way to proceed.  For now, we wait until the fear subsides.

Upright:  The Eight of Swords indicates being controlled by fear.  What will happen if the bills are unpaid?  Should a move out of the current situation occur?  Where will our life path go from here?  It is very easy to just let ourselves be bound by worry and stress.  Mental paralysis is strong; and because of this, we will tend to be wary of new things.  Deep guilt can be shown with the Eight of Swords; even that which is unfounded.  Restrictions may be self-imposed due to changes occurring around us.  The fears which are present may cause personal goals to remain unrealized indefinitely.  Outside advice from a trusted source is much needed in order to regain freedom from the fears that have gained a foothold.

Reversed:  When the Eight of Swords is reversed, the fears, and the thoughts that surround them, fall away.  As the fear subsides, a decision can be made.  Without the worry, we are able to see what is happening accurately.  Control will return and choices will be made now that anxiety does not have a strong hold.  Hope and inspiration have come back; and with them, the power to once again shape and define our desires and goals.  The end is no longer uncertain and is in sight.  New directions are now attainable.  We are no longer bound physically, or mentally, in a prison and we can enjoy the experience of being mobile again!
